Rule 5 - Eat something healthy before every meal next »

This is the easiest and most effective rule of all. Every time you are about to eat something, precede the meal with something healthy (ideally fruit, veg and low cal drinks).

More importantly, before you even decide what you are about to eat - have something healthy. This is because if you decide you are about to eat a burger, you will find it hard to eat fruit once your stomach knows a burger is on the way.

It shouldn't be seen as a choice - as for most of you the burger will win every time. Don't see the fruit as an alternative food - instead see it as starters only or as essential medicine which you can't live without.

e.g. Before you are about to eat one of your usual meals, have a glass of water, followed by a hot drink with sweatner, followed by low cal soup or an apple.

The idea is to suppress your cravings, the trick is not to see it as a choice between boring healthy and tasty unhealthy food, but only as your starters.

When you have done this a couple of times, you probably won't feel like eating as much and it will have taken zero effort and little will power in the process.
